The Offshore Outlaws fishing club began in 2006 when a handful of close friends gathered together in a garage. Through the hard work of our members, their passion for fishing, and the help of special sponsors, we had a very successful first year. We held a three month Blue Water Bonanza in which 18 boats ranging from 23 to 45 feet participated. During this time, the club also held a Blue Water Rodeo which is a one day blue water tournament.
Our Blue Water Rodeo was the largest fished blue water tournament in the state of Georgia during 2007. The club hosted the first Offshore Outlaws Kingfish tournament, in which 45 boats participated in a non SKA sanctioned tournament. This was the largest non sanctioned tournament in 2007 in the state of Georgia and had one of the largest payouts.
In the first part of December, we held our first annual Inshore Trout Tournament which all of our members hold very dear to their hearts. In this trout tournament, we raised money to buy bicycles for the not so fortunate children of Bryan and Liberty counties. In 2007, we were able to give our community a total of 34 bicycles which were distributed to the department of children and family services of Bryan and Liberty counties. After the first full year, we were back to the 17th annual Christmas on the Ogeechee where we held the largest lighting of the boat parade on the coast of Georgia at the Fort McAllister marina with well over 5000 spectators in attendance. We hosted a fireworks show afterwards that was second to none.
We are about to begin the second annual Blue Water Bonanza and look forward to 2008 being a banner year for our organization.
